Getting to waiheke
Ferries
Waiheke is just a 35 minute trip by passenger ferry from downtown Auckland to Matiatia, and Fullers ferries offer regular services both for your trip to the island, and your return to the mainland. Fullers also provide bus services which meet and deliver people to every sailing.
If you want to bring your car and/or boat to Waiheke, vehicle/passenger ferries also run regular services to the island. Sealink operates a 45 minute service seven days a week from Half Moon Bay to Kennedy Point; or a 60 minute service on Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday from Auckland City to Kennedy Point.
Helicopter
You can charter your own helicopter which can land at Waiheke’s airfield at Whakanawha (prior permission to land is required from Waiheke Air Services, 129 Carsons Road, Tel/Fax +64 9 372 6158).
Alternatively, some larger estates have their own landing pads for added convenience.
For information regarding travelling to Waiheke via helicopter, check out www.heletranz.co.nz. Heletranz also offer a meet and greet service at the Helipad at Auckland International Airport, and the transfer from the Airport to Waiheke Island takes approximately 12 minutes.
Private Boat
If you want to sail your own boat to Waiheke, some properties offer their own private wharf and/or boat mooring. Alternatively, you can anchor in one of the many beautiful bays around the island.
Light Aircraft
The Waiheke Island Aerodrome is a privately owned and run airfield situated on a ridge line south of Onetangi Bay and is the only airport on Waiheke Island.
The airfield is also the only licensed landing site for helicopters on Waiheke Island.
Commercial operations restricted to Waiheke Air unless by prior arrangement.

Once you’ve arrived on Waiheke, there are a number of different modes of transport available, including:
